Preserving History & Celebrating Legacy in the Historic Cherry Community
WELCOME TO CHERRY
About Cherry
The Cherry Community is one of Charlotte’s oldest neighborhoods - and one of the few remaining historically African American communities in the city. The Cherry Community Organization is a nonprofit that exists to continue the community’s legacy through the preservation of both historical landmarks and affordable housing.
Today, Cherry is a model of what a mixed income neighborhood can look like - where historic homes and parks stand next to brand new developments. We have a unique ‘density of diversity’ - and we’re proud to share the ways we’re making it work for every Cherry neighbor.
Stand with Cherry
You might be a Cherry neighbor who wants to connect with your community - or a community supporter who wants to see the Morgan School restored and vibrant again. Whether you are passionate about keeping housing affordable or the historic preservation of our city, we’d love to meet you and help you learn about our neighborhood and how to get involved.
